Are Capital Markets in the Fed’s Crosshairs

The Financial Stability Oversight Council:
Are Capital Markets in the Fed’s Crosshairs?

The Forum for Corporate Directors is partnering with the Pacific Research Institute to bring you this very important breakfast panel discussion on Thursday, October 23 at the Westin Hotel in Costa Mesa.

The Financial Stability Oversight Council—this topic may not be entertaining—but it is critical.

FCD Chair Chris Cox will moderate an in-depth discussion with SEC Commissioner Daniel Gallagher and Paul Atkins, CEO of Patomak Global Partners and former SEC Commissioner, about the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) which was established by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

The panel will focus on the Dodd-Frank provision that allows the U.S. Department of the Treasury to expand its oversight of insurance companies, mutual funds and other non-banks.  Bank regulation may make sense for banks, but does it make sense for our financial markets?  Do the new Federal Reserve powers reduce the risk to investors or do they increase the risk?
